IESO Faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill
An article on Oil Spill Chemical Countermeasures recently published by Dr. Scott Harris, the Senior Risk Manager at IESO, LLC, appears in the July-August newsletter from the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (NC OSHERC). The NC OSHERC is one of 17 regional education centers established by NIOSH to develop and support safety and health professionals, and is part of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
As part of its mission to provide continuing education in the states of the southeast region, the NC OSHERC appointed both Dr. Harris and Keith Spencer of IESO as program faculty and course directors for the Hazardous Substances Training (HST) Program. The HST is partially funded by NIOSH and provides customized training to public and private hazardous substance workers in all areas of exposure, ranging from firefighters to industrial EHS staff. Many classes are taught at the client site, while others are available in North Carolina or at the semi-annual Institutes held at various locations in Florida (Winter Institute) and in Norfolk, VA (Summer Institute). The February 2010 Winter Institute will be at St. Pete Beach.
