Philips Lighting in Danville, KY will develop and implement their OHSAS 18001 program using in-part the first-ever Bluegrass State Skills (BSSC) grant awarded for a health and safety management system. The $25,000 grant from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development was the product of a cooperative effort between IESO and BSSC and their legal department. Historically the grant program excluded health and safety from eligibility, but IESO successfully negotiated a great outcome for our client.
Philips-Danville will join world-class operations around the globe in embracing progressive, reliable occupational safety and health management. Speaking for the first North American facility in their corporation to implement OHSAS 18001, Plant Manager John Winkler expects real benefits from the new program: “We are grateful that IESO lended their expert assistance free of charge to allow this Philips plant to offset a majority of the cost for OHSAS development, implementation and certification. This certification will increase our global competitiveness and help secure our future in this trying global market.” An additional $44,000 State income tax credit awarded by the Cabinet will cover the remainder of expenses. Another satisfied IESO client.
IESO, LLC, the only listed private service provider in KY for developing health, safety and environmental management systems for the Cabinet, wrote the grant and tax credit applications and secured the funding at no cost to Philips. Most states have such programs, and we are working on similar grants across the country for clients ranging from healthcare to automotive to metalworking. If your company wants to pursue ISO or OHSAS implementation, but cost was holding you back, contact us to find out how this innovative solution can work for you.
