Florida Worker Grant Funding Alert

The state of Florida has just received nearly $62 million in new stimulus money for worker training programs.  Since this is the time of year that states are usually out of funds and not accepting applications, they are in the very unusual position of having funding, but few applications.  The Incumbent Worker Training grant coordinator has told IESO, LLC that with such low application volume, at least for the short term she can achieve an unheard-of two-day turnaround time for approval.

This is a 50% reimbursement program with a recovery limit of $50,000 per application.  For example, $100K worth of invoiced training costs nets a $50K grant check, literally cutting training costs in half.  These are cash grant dollars, money in hand, not tax credits.  Direct costs are documented by invoice from the consultant or other training provider, and cannot include equipment costs or in-kind or other internal costs such as facility employee wages during class time.  An individual facility is eligible to apply for a grant every other year, and the awarded funds must be spent within 12 months of the award.

Eligible entities include any for-profit Florida business that has been in operation for a minimum of one year prior to the application date.  Individuals to be trained must be working at a physical location in the state of Florida or working for a staffing agency and placed at a physical location in Florida.  Not eligible are not-for-profit agencies, organizations comprised only of volunteers, labor unions or federal, state, county or city governmental entities.

IESO has extensive experience in multiple states securing these grants for our clients for environmental, health and safety projects ranging from ISO 14001 to OHSAS 18001 to HAZWOPER and many other new or annual training requirements.  If your or your Florida affiliates are interested in securing a training grant, please contact us as soon as possible at 877-265-6384 or at www.iesollc.com.  We complete applications for our clients at no cost, and can help you in developing your list of training requirements.
