IESO, LLC announces a new OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course customized for healthcare. Many healthcare personnel have noted that the standard 30-hour OSHA course seems to have little in common with their needs. This healthcare-customized course will familiarize you with applicable OSHA standards while focusing on hazard recognition and prevention. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. What is unique about this course is that it was designed from the ground up to meet the specific needs of the healthcare industry, and we firmly believe it is currently the first and only one of its kind. It meets all OSHA-511 requirements for time and content, and attendees who successfully pass the course will receive their 30-hour completion card.
Joint Commission accreditation standards reference some OSHA requirements. However, TJC certification does not insure OSHA compliance. Healthcare is a covered General Industry sector, and is 100% regulated by OSHA. While it may be true that historically OSHA paid little attention to healthcare facilities, the current regulatory climate indicates those days are over. OSHA is actively targeting and citing healthcare facilities for a host of violations ranging from exposure control plans to bloodborne pathogens to mishandling infectious materials. Lack of training in numerous areas, including emergency preparedness and response, has become a major issue.
We encourage our healthcare clients and web visitors to download and review our course brochure to learn what OSHA expects and how this course can help you prepare. Check our training schedule at outreachtrainers.org and select “OSHA 30 Hour General Industry for Healthcare” in the QuickSearch menu.

“Our office was requested to support EPA, NASA, and FEMA in the underwater search and recovery effort for Space Shuttle Columbia. In that capacity, I want to document what a great privilege it was to work with Mr. Scott Harris. The thorough acoustic search of over 20 square nautical miles [of Toledo Bend Reservoir], and the safe conduct of over 3,100 dives by nine dive teams of over 250 divers from federal, state, and local agencies was unprecedented in the history of underwater search and recovery operations.”

Sometimes strong programs and great intentions are just not enough. Special risks require special solutions, and that’s what we do. IESO, LLC reduces cost, liability and claims right from the hotzone by getting involved early.
We help attorneys make smart litigation decisions. Has an EPA action at your site made you a target for demand letters and RP cost recovery? We know it well. Need medical HazMat training?
Our Global Risk Manager developed biological WMD programs at EPA for several major cities. Trying to understand what happens when the “big one” hits? We do off-site consequence analysis the right way: realistically and comprehensively. We train executives on their NIMS/ICS response roles so that they can help, not hinder.
From the Space Shuttle Columbia recovery to major train derailments, Hurricane Katrina Search and Rescue and many more, we have been there at the front lines, up close and personal.
At the first sign of a problem, let us interpret and assess your situation using decades of solid, hands-on experience. IESO, LLC experts have been doing this as long as the EPA has, both for private clients and previously even for the EPA. We know what they are thinking and what they want, but most importantly what can be done about it and how best to get there.
